I've added credit to a slide and need to slow the scrolling down. I have it
set to the slowest (15 seconds) and it's still goes too fast. I've also
added a delay and separated sentences, hoping that would do it but then there
is a 15 second delay between sentences.

Click Slide Show > Custom Animation to bring up the custom animation pane.
Double click on the credit effect.
Select the Timing tab.
Modify the speed of your preference by entering the input (e.g. 25 seconds).

What Shawn said and you can also do this in the Advanced Timeline -- to
access the Advanced Timeline. click the down arrow next to the animation
within the Custom Animation task pane -- and then select Advanced Timeline in
the resultant flyout menu.

Drag the task pane a little wider to get a better view of the Advanced
Timeline -- then drag to change times as required.

On another front, I have found that using a simple Motion Path animation
provides a better effect than using PowerPoint's scrolling credits animation.
