How do I sign on as administrator?

I am trying to modify a text file in c:\Program Files\EasyPHP
2.0b1\www using Notepad. It says "Can't create file." However, I can
create and refile it using Start - Computer (Windows Explorer) by
copying and pasting the file. It says, "You'll need to provide
administrator permission to copy to this folder." and I click
CONTINUE, then it asks, "User Account Control: Windows needs your
permission to continue." and again I click CONTINUE.

How do I sign on as administrator?

By default the Administrator account is disabled, it was for me anyways after
a fresh install. In order to enable it Go to: Start -> Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools -> Computer Management then expand "Local Users and
Groups" -> "Users"

1. Right Click Administrator -> Set Password (give it a password)
2. Right Click Administrator -> Properties, remove the check next to
"Account is disabled"

You should now have access to the Administrator account.
 
You are probably already using an Administrator account. What you are seeing
is normal and by design.

The C:\Program Files folders is a restricted area in Vista. When you do
anything in those folders, you will get the UAC prompt and you need to click
the Continue button to complete the process. This is to make sure that it is
'you' that is making the change and not some malicious program.
 
This didn't work for me. I am the only user with an Administrator's
account. I am trying to uninstall fonts and am not allowed to. I am
asked permission. I even turned of User Accounts Control and re-started.

Nobody but you has a clue what you are talking about. Please quote the
material you are replying to.

The vast majority of us do NOT use that horrible web-interface you are
using.

I am talking about trying to uninstall fonts, as was clear. I can't.
I posted here, being new, because the thread above talks about needing
permissions from an administrator. I have an administrator's account
but cannot delete fonts. I am asked over and over for permission. I
have even disabled user account control and that hasn't worked.

Start a new thread. Make the subject something like "Can't uninstall
fonts".

Vista is all about permissions. It's very complicated and complex.
The workaround for you is this:

It sounds like the Administrator account disabled (which is typical
of a single user setup), and your user account is 'the administrator'.
To login using the administrator user account, on boot-up keep
pressing the f8 key until you get some boot options. If you startup in
safe mode, you still have to login to windows, and the Administrator
user account appears as a choice to login. If you didn't set a
password, do not enter one. Just select Administrator, enter windows
in safe mode, remove whichever fonts you are trying to get rid of, and
then do a normal reboot.
