How do I show my time as busy without creating an event?

Trying to show my time as busy or away without having to create an event to
do so. Need to figure this out as I am working with a college and meetings
are always being requested.

Any help would be appreciated!
 
You'll have to create appointments to show yourself as busy or unavailable.
