I have a small local network with three stations. I want to share Access
2003 between all three computers.

I have read in someone else's question that it can be done but it is not
recommended.

My main Work Stations runs Office 2003. The other two computers run Office
2002. I want to keep the main database on my work station as it has RAID1.

Are you trying to share the database file, or the application?

You can share the database as long as each user has the application on their
PCs.

You should (by default) be able to open the database on each PC. If you
can't you'd need to explain what is happening in order for us to help you.
As far as recommending that you don't, almost all business Access databases
are designed to be used by multiple people. Access contains all the tools
you need to use them in a multi-user environment and most of the defaults
are set up to support this.

Each Computer has its own copy of the application. I am trying to share the
database. I have placed the database in the work station under shared
documents in my network places. The other documents in this file (ie word,
excel, etc.) are no problem to open.

When trying to open the database from another computer I get the error
message:
"File is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft
Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.

To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location."

My work station has only been running for the past week. When setting up
the network, the other computer no longer shows the work station as being on
a local network, but shows its location as internet.
