How do I setup the default location to save word files?

Gentlemen,
Sometimes I want to retrieve a file for Word from a disk in drive "A". After
I'm done and I want a file from "C", I find that the default has change to
"A" and I have to manually find the directory on "C" to correct it.Is there
any way to "Lock in" the default on "C".?
 
You will avoid that problem and also the problem of corrupting your
documents if you NEVER open documents from the A: drive. You should always
copy them to the Hard Disk and open them from there.
