I created a .pst file to backup my emails in an MSExchange environment. I am
unable to open it in a standalone. Am getting a .pst not a personal folder
file error. Would appreciate your help/input

State how you created this file. State your relevant Outlook versions and
how you transported this PST file.

Hi Russ;

Thank you for your response below. I simply created a personal folder
through Outlook 2002 data files and then drag the emails from inbox into this
new pst created then burned it in a CD. Am now trying to open the said pst
using my Outlook 2003 standalone and pops the error.

Appreciate the help.

When you burn a file to a CD it becomes read only.
Outlook must have read/write access to open a PST file.
Make sure you move this file to a hard drive and remove its read only
attribute.
