How do I set up Outlook for a small organization?

I am trying to set up oulook for my church in my computer. I use outlook at
work and have such things as Inbox, calander and contacts, task and notes.
When I installed my office 2000 program it would not let me get into outlook.
I want to be able to allow my fellow church people to acces the same outlook.
 
What does "would not let me get into outlook" mean? What exactly happens
when you try? Do you get any error messages? A bit more detailed
information would help out a LOT!
