How do I set up my search page to display active pages only?

The reslults from my search page brings up site statistics, file lists, and
other pages which are not active on my website. How can I get results to
display only from pages in my navigation structure?
 
Any page or item that you don't want to show up in the search should be in a
directory that begins with an underscore (such as _mystats).
