How do I set up a global network printer?

Hope somebody can help - I have to set up a computer lab
for a school using XP Professional. I haven't been able
to figure out a way to install the networked (not local)
lab printers so that students can access them when they
log on. Is there a way to do this? Or does each student
have to "connect" to the printer each time they log on at
a different computer? HELP!!!
