How do I set dual rate e/net card to 100meg in XP?

I just bought an HP desktop with a dual rate network
card. When I hook it up to my DSL modem, it only runs at
10Meg. When I use my laptop the connection is at 400Meg.
How do I configure my desktop to at least get 100Meg?
Thanks.

Most DSL and cable modems only run at 10 Mb/s on the LAN side;
that's enough, since 10 Mb/s is more than they can get on the
WAN side.

I don't know what you are looking at on your laptop to see
400 Mb/s; certainly not a connection to a DSL/cable modem.

An IEEE 1394 (FireWire) network connection has a maximum rated speed
of 400 Mb/s. I use it for data transfer between my two main
computers, but the actual transfer speed is much less.

Thanks for the info. FYI - when I connect the laptop, XP
pops up a little window in the lower right that announces
that my ISP is connected at 400Meg (and the same message
but 10Meg when I use DSL on the desktop). I was wondering
why the discrepancy, and how to force the 100Meg transfer
rate. Thanks again.
