How do I send a shortcut to a word document in an e-mail message?

How can you send a shortcut to a word document in an e-mail message using
Outlook? The word document exists on an intranet and is a public folder
shared by others. It is a rather long path to the doc and I would rather
send a shortcut to make it easier for the managers to find.
 
If Word is your email editor, use Ctrl+K to launch the Insert Hyperlink dialog, where you can enter separate display name and URL.
