how do i see a scanned text in Word?

I used to scan a text in Word and see it as an image.
I cannot see it anymore except if I go to "preview print".
When I send it to another computer, the text/image is visisble.
Where is the problem?

Please repost your question in a Word newsgroup. This newsgroup is for
a different program, Microsoft Access.

Just at a guess - it is just an image, and will not contain any text,
just black dots on a white background which happen to make the shape
of letters.
