How do I save my movie to DVD with WinDVD?

OK, it's taken me forever to fiddle around with MovieMaker and do my movie,
finally got it all finished and now am struggling with how to convert it to a
DVD.

I managed to get to the Save Movie File, and saved it to "My Computer" as
DV-AVI, but then when I played it back, all my audio was stuffed it (my audio
was jumping all over the place when the clips faded to the next).

So, after reading heaps of posts on this board, followed some instructions
to un-installed Internet Explorer 7, and hey presto, after saving my movie
again but this time as "High Quality Video (PAL).

So I now have my file and the sound is working, but can't for the life of me
figure out how to convert it to a format for recording to DVD.

I've searched through this site, and read about all sorts of programs I can
use. And although I have a few of these programs (have never used any of them
before) I am at a loss how to proceed with them.

I have Sonic RecordNow v6, but when I open this it tells me I don't have the
right version of Media Player.

I have InterVideo WinDVD, but am totally lost with what to do with it. I can
play my movie on it, but can't see any other options here.

I have downloaded the free trial version of ConvertXtoDVD, and after waiting
yonks for it to download, I went to convert my movie, but it said it would
have a watermark through the entire thing (not at all what I want!)

Can anyone please explain if (and how) I can use WinDVD to do this?? Please
help! I am so frustrated with this, have been surfing for answers for hours
and hours and hours now! Argh!

Thanks

Lisa

I wrote the following tutorial on creating
a VCD but the steps for a DVD would
be basically the same.

===
Here are some basic steps that
work for me...

Insert a blank CD-R in your CD Burner.
(if a dialog opens asking what you want
to do...close it)

Open WinDVD Creator.

Click...Create New Project button.

Import button...browse to the video/s you
wish to use. Open them in the program.

Drag the clips to the cells at the bottom
of the screen in the order you want them
to play.

Now you can add your music. Audio
Library button / Import / select the file
and open it. Drag the file to the clip
you want it associated with.

Make Movie button...

Format: VCD...

TV System: NTSC...

Click the arrow to advance to the next screen...

Burn to disk button...

Click the right arrow to advance to the next screen...

Select your CD Burner...

Burning Speed: Optimal...

Start button...

Wait while the program burns your VCD...

When the disk ejects...try it in your DVD player...

I created a basic VCD while I was writing these
steps for you...it plays in my Toshiba DVD player.

Good luck.

Hi John

Thanks for this info, but I have InterVideo WinDVD 4. This is different to
WinDVD Creator that you talk about isn't it?

Sorry, I only have version 5 and don't know
what may have been different in an earlier
version. I'm thinking it should be close enough
that you could figure out the steps to create
a DVD.

They are up to version 8 now:

Hi again

Went to follow your instructions, but didn't get far I'm afraid.

Open WinDVD Creator. (opened my version)

Click...Create New Project button (where is this?) There are no buttons that
I can see like this.

As I said, I have no info on version 4...
In my copy...version 5...the first screen
that opens offers several choices and
the top choice is "Create New Project".

Once I'm in the program I get the 'Start-
Up Wizard' which leads me to choose
the settings for my project.

Now...on the Main Screen...I could still
begin a new project by going to:
Project / New Project...

From there just import the files /
Drag them to the cells / add the music /
go to...Make Movie.

Sorry I can't be more help but with some
experimenting you should be able to
figure it out.

Try downloading the trial version of Ulead Movie Factory:
http://www.ulead.com/dmf/trial.htm
The trial version will work to create your DVD and, at least through version
4, didn't leave any watermarks.
For more information about the program see my websites DVD Creation section.
