I went to Insert > movies and sounds > play audio cd ...
Yes, the track indicated played while on my computer, but when I tried to
send as an attachment from my e-mail the song does not follow.

Also, how do I set it up to view slideshow automatically when being viewed
as an e-mail attachment?

The song is on the CD, not your computer. It is a separate item from your
ppt file. It is also way too big to email. It is also a "CD track", not an
audio file that the computer generally recognizes out of the context of
being on a CD.

You will probably be better off if you "rip" the song you are using on the
CD into an mp3 or other sound file. Then, put the sound file into the same
folder as the ppt file, link the sound file to the presentation to play as
needed, and email both files, with instructions to keep them together.

If I have misspoken here in any regard, someone please jump in.

For a email receipient to view the slide show automatically do this befor you
attach it to the email:

File > Save As
Under the Save as type drop down menu select PowerPoint Show. The file
extension will now be .pps.
