How do I save an Access report design for future use?

Define a report in Access in "design view".

Save it.

By future use, I presume you mean you might want to use the same design in a
different database. You don't need to save the report design! It already is
saved in the database it was created for. You can copy a report in one
database into any other database by going to File - Get External Data and
navigating to the database that contains the report you want to use and
importing the report into the database you are working on.

Remember that your new environment will need all the tables and queries that
feed your "report template" to be the same as in the old environment ... or
you'll need to modify the report.

And, technically, you will need to save it in the old environment before
you'd be able to import it to a new one...
