when I go to download a file, it doesn't ask me where I want to save it,
it automaticaly saves to my desktop.... I need to know how I can change
that...
Please Help Me! :)

any file, do you know where if you go to download a file or program and it
usually asks you if you want to open or save? well it goes straight to my
desktop and I was wanting to save it to my program files, I don't see any
place where I can change it.

Some people confuse "downloading" with installing a program.
When you download you are receiving a file from the Internet usually by
means of Internet Explorer and as such a little window opens up and asks you
where you wish to save to..........thats why the question as to what program
you are using to download.
Installation is placing a new program onto your computer...and normally the
program will give you a choice of where to install to...sometimes this
choice is hidden under advanced options and you can then specify where. Some
programs do not give you a choice and install into a default directory but
do place shortcut Icon on the desktop to run the program once installed.
which one are you trying to do??

One does not normally (and should not) download files to the \program
files folder. That's a place for *installed* programs.

However, if, as Peter suggested, you are actually *installing* the
program, not just downloading it, what you may be seeing is a shortcut
to the installed program on your desktop. Program installations very
commonly create such a shortcut.

When you download a program from the Internet you are normally given
the choice of "save" or "run." If you choose "save," you are then
given the choice of where to save it. If you choose "run," it
downloads the file, and then starts the installation routine for that
program. Where it puts the installed program, and whether it creates
a desktop shortcut is at the discretion of the author of that
installation program. You may be asked or you may not be.

So my guess, is that you chose "run," not "save," that the
installation program defaulted to wherever it puts it, and that it
created a desktop shortcut pointing there.
