How do I restrict access to a discussion forum

Is there any way to either password-protect or otherwise restrict access to a
discussion forum on a FP 2003 website? The discussion is being spammed by
Chinese who are apparently using it for their own purposes. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

You only have 1 option with the FP discussion web.

If you host allow Subwebs and gives you the ability to assign unique permissions, then you can
create the discussion web as a subweb, and then create users, then handout the login to each user.
