I am using PP 2007 and need to be able to resize the slides so I can burn
them to DVD format for viewing on a televisiion screen. The current size is
too large for the average television screen. I have searched as much as I
know how on the web and my "Teach Yourself Visually" Powerpoint Book. Please
help!

I am not an expert. In fact I just started PP 2007 less than a week.
Would changing the Resolution help ?
Slide Show > Monitors tab, Resolution. Click the pointer, change to smaller
resolution.
Just an ordinary Joe's suggestion.

Design Tab, Page Setup, Custom, and set whatever size you want.

Resolution changes the quality, not the size. I am a newbe too, only abut a
month with pp2007 here and never used pp before.
Neelie

No, no. It does change the size of the slides that appear on the screen.
Once I had a presentation with pictures taking up almost the entire TV
screen. Someone from this newsgroup told me to change the resolution. It
worked.
Why don't you try it on one of your already done presentations.
Click NEW on the PP, you are back on project mode. Make the resolution
changes. Compare.
Also, but it can only be done on a new project :
Insert > Photo Album > select your pictures/files > Insert > under Album
layout, you can change Fit to Slide which will occupy the whole TV screen,
to 1 Picture which will appear smaller on the screen.

OK I'll give it a try. This is all so new to me. My DH has me do his pp
presentations for his sermons then we burn to a DVD for those who need to see
it again.

Thanks, I'll try it. I changed the resolution 2 sizes and it didn't make a
difference. Will try and report back Thanks

I resized it, I thought, to the7.50 X 5.6 that the DVD program wanted, but
the end result is still the same. Do I have to resize each slide? Thanks,
Neelie

How about having a normal slide with a black background and put all your
information into a centered 7.5x5.6 box. That is the procedure I used a long
time ago when putting slides together for VHS tapes.

Ok Now I realy need some help! Other than using a shape, how do I get a
black background? Also I tried to maually resize a slide, which is a photo
with words on it, the photo shrunk, but the words didn't. And how do I know
how to tell what size I have made the whole thing? This is getting very
confusiing to me.

Click on the Design Tab, and select Background styles.

If the words are not part of the photo you need to select them, and resize
them individually.

Or, you could use Windows Movie Maker to do the job for you

Could I just copy and paste my PP slides into windows movie maker?
I sort of lost faith in windows DVD burner because even tough I resized my
slides, when I buned from the wondershare program using windowd DVD burner,
they overflowed all sides on the TV. but when played on a computer, they are
just fine.

Neelie

No, you would have to save your presentation as images, and then drag them
into moviemaker.

Is that easy to do? CanI kep the animations? Is there anything else I wuld
need to know? I've never done that before. I have been working totally in
Power Point.

Nothing is easy if you haven't done it before. Not sure about animations in
moviemaker.

If you want to keep your animations you might try something like Techsmith's
Camtasia Studio http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp nor free but they do
have a trial period
