How do I reset/rebuild/recompile the thumbnails in a folder?

I've got some thumbnails in a few folders that are screwed up in one way or
another. One folder's entire contents is horribly scrambled in the thumbnails,
but perfectly intact in their original form. In other folders I have a few
photos like that, or some photos that won't show up as thumbnails at all.

How do I get it to clear its thumbnail data for a file, or an entire folder, and
rebuild it? I've tried copying them to a new folder, but that tends to copy the
thumbnails, as well. So far the only thing that's ever affected it was a
reformat, and although that fixed the problems, it screwed up completely
different photos.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try this, in Windows Explorer, open folder options, view tab, tick "Do not cache
thumbnails."
