how do I reset outlookcategories with the categories button greyed

I have just uninstalled my free trial version of office 2003 which has
expired without warning, and re-installed my original Office XP version.
Outlook will not open - help tells me to reset the categories, but the
categories button is greyed out. Any ideas?? Is this a ploy by Microsoft to
force you to purchase the new version??

HI Jon,
Have you use the unicode format in OL2003?
your categories are in the registry
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Categories!

In the registry I have ...\Office\8.0, 10.0 and 11.0, but no 9.0. Categories
is not in any of these folders. Should I delete these registry settings and
re-install Office??
