How do I replace one version of page with another?

I have a page named AboutUs.htm. I created an alternate page that I want to
substitute for this existing page. After closing FrontPage, I went into File
Manager and tried to rename AboutUs.htm to something else. I then intended
to give the new page the old page's original name.

However, I then discovered that FrontPage is maintaining a folder for each
page. When I tried to rename AboutUs.htm, File Manager issued the warning,
"If you rename this file it will no longer belong to the AboutUs_files
folder."

First, what does this folder do? Why does it exist? Every htm page in my
site appears to have a similar folder. My husband's FrontPage webs don't
have such folders.

Second, what would happen if I go ahead and rename my files as planned? Will
that mess up whatever purpose that folder serves?

Thanks.

Marilyn

They are called thicket folders (hidden by FP)
- created when you either Import a MS Office file or use Word/Shape art

the folder in question holds any images etc used by the page,
it's actually not a bad way of keeping things tidy ...
you could try opening up the "new" page you created, and save as...
and overwrite the existing page... that should do it.

??????

Stefan what has your answer to do with the OP's question?? It didn't exactly
answer the question "how do I replace one version of page with another".

To the OP, all you do is open the page, make the changes, save it and
republish it. The new page will overwrite the old page. Or, open the site
live in FP, open that file, make the changes save it, and you're done.

If you want the old page, then rename it like "aboutus_old.htm" or
something, so you have it as a backup, then upload the original after making
the changes.

You'd only need to File > Save As rather than renaming it outside Frontpage.

You can also rename files *within* Frontpage (in the "folder view" list),
just click the file, it goes to the "edit filename mode" (for want of a
better description- can't exactly describe it) and you can change the file
name.

OP problem was trying to find out what was creating the thicket folder "AboutUs_files folder"
- you can't rename a file w/ an associated thicket
(you need to delete it and create a new file to generate a new thicket)
