How do I remove security from access?

I am asked for a password any time I open any database. Most databases are
on a shared server and I am the only one with password requirement. Is there
a local file with the information?

This is dependent on your default workgroup file, not by the MDB file you
are opening. Change your default workgroup to one where the default user
"Admin" doe not have a password and you will stop being prompted.

How do I change the default workgroup?

Use the Workgroup Administration Utility. Depening on your Access version
it will either be a menu item or a separate exe will be on your PC
somewhere (for NT4/Access 97 it's C:\WINNT\system32\WRKGADM.EXE).

Keith.

The only choices I have are Create Workgroup or Join Workgroup. Setting
Default does not appear to be possible. I'm running Win 2000 and Access
2000. Does that matter?

TIA

"Joining" _is_ setting your default. What file does it say you are
currently joined to?

The only reference to a workgroup I get is

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYSTEM\SYSTEM.MDW

But it looks to me like this is just a file.

The pop-up that comes up when I run WRKGADM.EXE says:
Your workgroup is defined by the workgroup information file that is used at
startup. You can create a new workgroup by creating a new information file,
or join an existing workgroup by changing the information file that is used
at startup.

Does that mean I can select one of several WG files by selecting a different
information file, or can I edit the info in WRKGADM.EXE to change the way
security boots up.

Well I went into User and Group Accounts and removed passwords from all
acounts (thought I had done that before, but maybe not) and went into
System.mdw and gave all rights to all users. Rebooted the PC and restarted
Access. No password nag. Hope I can write the Database to CD and share with
others. Couldn't do that before. Time will tell. Thanks your help.
