How do I remove an image attached to my outgoing emails?

Lately I have found that there is an image file attached to every email I
send out. I did not add this image file as an attachment and don't know how
to get rid of it. I am afraid it may cause a bug and would like any
suggestions on how to detach this. When I create the email, the attachment
area is not open and does not show any such attachment. When I receive an
answer back adn view the file, the attachement is there if the person resends
my original email.

I've read before where the problem was caused by the user editing and saving
changes they made to the .dot template file used in Word when it is called
by Outlook as the e-mail editor. Before Word 2002, email.dot was the
template used in Word when called by Outlook for e-mail composing. From
Word 2002 and on, that template is no longer user and, I think, the
normal.dot file is used. You did not mention which version of Outlook that
you use. So you need to replace the modified template file, or maybe you
could open it and edit it again to remove whatever content you don't want in
it. To replace the file and after exiting all MS Office applications, I
believe you can rename the old email.dot or normal.dot file, whichever is
appropriate based on your version of Outlook, to change the .dot extension
to .old and then reload Word which will recreate the template file. I've
read but never seen where the there may be other copies of the email.dot
file named email1.dot, email2.dot, etc. so check for those, too.
