There is a light blue background behind the text of my word document. It is
not shading and is not highlighting. Please, any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

On the flip side, in Word 2007, how do I create a background fill? I am LOST
without the option to click "Format>Background". Word 2007 has me thoroughly
confused.

You didn't look in help then? It would have told you that on the page layout
tab, page background group, there is a button for 'page color'.

Yes, I tried searching all sorts of different phrases in help - background
fill, background color, etc. It didn't come up.

Thank you for the solution, but I didn't need the attitude.

I see that this question was posted a LONG time ago, and hopefully that person figured it out. The instructions are valid of just going to the little pouring paint can icon and changing the background color on your page to No Color. Yes, that solves the problem, but I didn't see any answers as to WHY this is an issue in Word in the first place, so that's what I'm answering. When you copy something--anything--from the internet and paste it into your document, that blue background will show up. It may be annoying but at least there's a super easy fix.
