How do I remove a key?

There is something under the c key of my Vaio laptop (I believe it is a
piece of catfood...) The key will work if I press from the lower edge,
but something is blocking the center. The Vaio is the nicest thing I
own, and I don't want to rip into it like my old keyboards- how do I
safely remove the key w/out wrecking it? Sorry this is so trivial, but
I use a lot of cccccsss....

will be surprised if they responded with how to info...

does the key depress fully when you press the center? if it depresses
fully and doesn't type a character, the problem is unlikely to be
something under the key, but rather a bad contact... which pressing on
the edge "just makes" and removing the keycap is unlikely to allow a fix

But, if it if doesn't fully depress, suggest (with the laptop off) to
stand the computer on edge (like a setting an open book upright on a
table, then gently tilting the key corner to corner to see if anything
comes loose. If you can find an air gun (car shop?) that can also move
stuff with the keyboard upside down so that the crumbs fall out

In my experience (but don't know about the vaio, so the following is at
your own risk) most small keys will "pop" off using the blunt end two
metal nail files (or something similar) to gently pry two opposite edges
upward... put something like a cloth over the key so that if there is a
loose spring, it will not fly across the room.

The large keys such as the space key are another matter... they normally
have a wire lever support which supports the entire width of the key and
allows it to work no matter where it is pressed.

What does this have to do with XP?

Ask elsewhere

Thank you so much for the help- I got it out with some canned air. (it
was a bit of cat food, guess I'll need to move my work space...)

Or get rid of the cat!

Instead of being immature and running someone off, why don't you help them
out by pointing them in the right direction?
