For over 2 weeks now, when people send me a message, and I click to view it,
a blank receipt is sent back to them. I've never had this happen before, and
I rechecked my settings to see if anything is different, but could not find
anything amiss. Please help? People are thinking I am responding to them,
instead of just reading their messages.

Thanks. Jeff

is it happening to every message or just some? Do you have any add-ins
installed? The only way you can do it when a receipt isn't requested is with
a rule sending an automatic reply, but it would happen for every message you
received. Otherwise the mail server would have to be munging the message -
outlook can't set the RR flag.

Hello Diane. It was happening on every message. Some would get my email
note, then they would get the blank receipt after that, and some only got the
receipt, without the email message, and thus they were confused about what I
was sending. I checked my rules, and I did not see anything that would have
caused this event to occur. I did go to the Outlook Express program, to see
if something there would cause this problem. I used OE for a while when I
bought my Dell, because my ISP will help with OE, but not Outlook. However,
because Outlook was more practical for me to use, I went to it. I noticed in
the OE settings, that a check was placed in the spot where a "receipt would
be sent to those who email me, automatically." I unchecked it, and so far, I
am hearing that receipts are not being seen. However, because only a few
have corresponded back with me since I made the change, I do not know if this
is a factor.
Thanks again for the tip, and I wish I knew how OE got checked, as I do not
remember doing that, in fact, I never send receipts of any kind.
Jeff
