How do I reinstall W2k's SP4 to change from standard to ACPI PC?

Greetings the group;

I have a dual boot W98 + W2k installation that I just upgraded from SP3 to
SP4, with a full download from MS.
When I installed the OS I didn't know where during setup to change the
selection from Standard PC to ACPI. For whatever reason the BIOS was
detected as Standard, whereas it is ACPI compliant. Now I can't use certain
power features and I get BSODs concerning "IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL" in
ntsokrnl whenever I try to shutdown or hibernate the computer. I can't get a
standby mode at all with W2k, which I had under W98.

My MB is a Tyan Trinity 1590s, with an Award BIOS that was flashed to it's
last available upgrade released on 1/24/2000. It says it is ACPI compliant
and enabled and worked perfectly under Win98 SE, regarding shutdown and
standby modes. Now I have neither under W2k.

How should I go about reinstalling W2k with the downloaded SP4 on top of the
existing installation and what sequence do I need to input at what point to
change from a standard to ACPI PC? I have the original OS on the CD with
SP3. I also understand that this might not fix my problems if other hardware
is at fault for the BSODs, but it is worth a try.

It's worth mentioning that I use a Promise Tech Ultra 66 plugin board to
control my hard drives, not the onboard IDE slots.

Thanks in advance
