How do I put a tilde over an "n"?

I am trying to write a recipient's name, but the name has an "n" with a tilde
over it. How do I make this?

Alt+0241 is ñ, and Alt+0209 is Ñ. Hold down the Alt key, and from the
numeric keypad (not the top row of number keys on the keyboard), type 0241 or
0209, then release the Alt key.

Hold down ALT while you type 0209 on the numeric keypad to get this: Ñ
ALT+0241 gives this: ñ

There's usually some arcane trick to doing this on a laptop that doesn't have a
numeric keypad; on my Tosh, you hold down Fn+Alt while typing the magic numbers
on the "embedded" numeric pad.

It might be simpler to click in the text box where you want this then choose
Insert, Symbol and pick the characters you want.

Steve, that's MAGIC! Thanks for that trick, I appreciate it very much! (It
works on my Fujitsu Siemens laptop, too.)

Kind regards,
Ute

I just stumbled onto it myself.

I can't remember what the magic combination used to be on my old ThinkPad, but
it took fourteen or fifteen fingers to make it work. That's one of the reasons
there's a button to invoke CharacterMap in the free PPTools StarterSet. <g>

Hello,

Probably the easiest way to do this (PowerPoint 97 and later) is to use the
Insert -> Symbol... command.
