How do I put a 30 minute sermon on my website?

I have a church website and want to put our sermons on it. Our friend
recorded it and I have a copy on a CD and he also emailed me it in MP3 form.

Thanks.

Open your Frontpage web;
Import the Mp3 file (File > Import).
Then in the page you want to have it, create a hyperlink to the file.
Save the page, and publish both that page and the Mp3 file.

When people click the link, it will download and then play - this might take
a while since the file could be pretty big considering it's 30 minutes.

The other alternative, is to "zip" the file into a compressed folder, link
to, and upload the zipped copy of the mp3 file. people can then download
the zip folder, and decompress the MP3 file, save it to their hard drive,
then open it in their media player.

To zip a file in Windows, you just right click the file, select "Send to"
and choose "compressed (zipped) folder"

Then import the *.zip file into your frontpage web, and create the link to
that file.

Then publish the *.zip file and the page that contains the link to it.

I tried putting in in waves and then tried to publish it and my server would
error. Is this just too big of a file to put on at once??

Can you tell me how big (in megabytes) the file is and also with the exact
wording of the error?

Are you publishing through Frontpage or a standard FTP program? There
might be some limit (I don't know...) either in FP itself or your host or
ISP regarding file sizes.....Unless there is some limit set by your host, I
shouldn't think it would matter about the file size although of course, it
is sensible to make it as small as possible for the benefit of those who
will use it.

Did you try both methods I first suggested - either upload just the MP3
file, or zip (compress) the file and link and upload that file?

A few other suggestions (mostly guesswork here):

It might also be that your server is just busy (if shared hosting) therefore
you might try the upload again at a later time.

Are you on broadband or dialup - this could possibly be a barrier - the
connection might be timing-out in the middle of the upload

Finally, you could also contact your host and discuss the problem with them.
