How do I print nearer edges

Is there any way I can get my printer to print nearer to the bottom of the
sheet. It is set to leave a margin that is too big for my current needs.

Thanks

Use legal size paper and then trim it afterward. Or get a new printer and
check the spec for bottom margin carefully.

That will depend on what printer you have I have a HP 3820 and the smallest
botom margin it will print at is 11.7mm or .46in otherwise there is not
enough paper left to grip while it is printing.

You're in the United Kingdom. That means you're using A4 paper. Is your
printer driver or software by any chance set for American "Letter" paper,
which is about 3/4 inch shorter than A4 (and 1/4 inch wider)?

A bit more detail of my problem
I have been fooling my PagePro laser to print right off the bottom if need
be but it broke down yesterday so onto my other printer a HP990 and no
matter how I try it still sticks to a 1cm bottom margin on A4. I really do
need to get it down to about .3cm otherwise I will waste in the region of
6,000 preprinted letterheads.

You should be able to get down to .12cm or 11.7mm acording to HP check
link

11.7 mm is 1.17 cm, not 0.12 cm.

Inkjet printers need to grip the last half-inch or so of the paper. There
may be no getting around that.

Thanks for the link. I had searched the HP site but clearly you searched
more successfully!!

I spend an hour and a half trying to get round it but it has me beat. But I
will be buying a long term replacement mono laser so will be researching the
margins on my shortlist of printers very carefully. I wonder, do you know,
do lasers need to grip the last bit of paper in the same way.

No; most laser printers can get within 6 mm (1/4 inch) of the edge, and the
limit is the same on all four edges.

Quite a few inkjet printers are now capable of printing across the
entire page to produce completely borderless prints. Nevertheless, most
of the Epson range will print to within 3mm of the edge of the page. So
it isn't a problem that is generic to inkjets - it might be generic to
HP inkjets though!

Read the origional Post it was about printing down the page not across .
The HP 990 will print to within 3.2mm of the sides but not the bottom.

Read the response I gave - it was about how close to ANY edge you can
print on some inkjets; INCLUDING the bottom edge!
