How do I print a black & white version of a custom color slide?

In Powerpoint, I had created a custom color title slide for a new template,
and it included blue gradations and my company logo. On the interior pages of
this template, I went with a Powerpoint-default blue color background, but
included a reverse color footer of the company name.

I have found that, if I need to print handouts of this template in black &
white, the default interior color prints out as it should (with the blue
background printing as white and text printing black), but the custom color
title slide and the footers I created continue to print out as unacceptable
blacks, dark grays, and white. One cannot see the text at all in the custom
slides.

My question is this: Are my title slide and footers not printing correctly
in black & white because they are not Powerpoint default designs? Isn't there
a way to "embed" customized designs with heavy background colors within
Powerpoint, so they print correctly like any other heavy background color
designs that "come with" Powerpoint? Help!

Switch to Slide Master View and additionally to View - Grayscale/Colors -
Grayscale (or Black & White). This should bring up a tiny tool bar, where
you can choose the properties for grayscale or black&white printing and
choose to print the background in light grey or not at all. I would
recommend not to use black & white but always to print in grayscale. You
need b&w only for faxes or with needle printers.
