How do I prevent duplicate files in Access?

I am setting up a new Access database. I am pulling contacts from various
sources and I will not be the only person entering data. I need a way to
prevent a file from being duplicated so I don't have multiple copies of the
same information going to the same person.

In your tables you can define indexes and indicate if duplicates are
allowed.
