When browsing some sites I will click a link and the new window will open to
full screen or maximized, and or hide the toolbar from me. I alt+F4 the
window but how can this intrusion on "my preference" be prevented? I have
looked for software all over but they are all bloated junk, isn't there just
a setting in the registry or some such tweak?

If you're talking about popup ads, you'll need to get a popup killer. As for
the size of the popup, you don't have much control over that. That can be
easily be set with 1-line of JavaScript in the html.

No not just pop ups but windows I choose to open become maximized, which I
think is wrong for us not to have the option to disable that feature when
visiting a web site.
