Calendar folder in Oultook is now a huge chunk of allowed memory.
Subsequently I would like to delete all previous appointments. Have tried
Autoarchiving but it does not remove the appointments. Any ideas?

View it in a table (eg By Category), ungroup it, sort by date and select all
the old ones you want to delete. Click delete.
