How do I obtain administrator rights for browser updates?

I have bt/yahoo browser and I want to upgrade it to the latest version but
it stops short and asks me to login as a member of the admin group or as a
user with administrative rights. Please tell me how to get rights, I am the
only user and I am called the administrator so why can I not upgrade the
software?

This is not a software download it is an online upgrade so I cant right
click and run as administrator
 
I'm not talking about once the program is open. I'm talking about
right-clicking the executable for yahoo browser and running as
Admininistrator. This will open the browser in Administrative mode. There
is no way to invoke Administrative powers from an open browser as far as I
can tell.
 
Correct,

You can only give a program admin permissions when it first opens, not while
it is running.

If you need to give something admin permissions that you do not start
directly, you must give the program that creates that something admin
permission.
