.
It would have helped if you would have stated which version
of Outlook. However, for Outlook 2000, 2002 and 2003,
download and install this Microsoft add-in on both systems.
Then back up to an external device and "restore" on the new
PC.

Chuck,
Your help is so important to me.
I have Outlook 2002, and want to save my Calendar & Contacts from my desktop
system to a Jump Drive and load it into my laptop.

I have Outlook 2002 on my laptop, but need to update it each time I travel.
You referred to "download and install this Microsoft add-in on both systems."

Please elaborate on this step or what download you are referring to.
I would be so grateful to find an answer to this ongoing Outlook Calendar
dilemma.

ASAP, SOMEBODY, PLEASE!!!

Hi,

For personal users who do not have an Exchange Server, Outlook data is stored in Personal Folder files (*.pst). Outlook uses Personal Folder files to store Information such as
messages, tasks, contacts, calendar, etc. To backup your Outlook data, or to move your Outlook data from one machine to another, you simply need to copy the .PST file from one
machine to another, then make sure Outlook points to that .PST file on the second machine.

For more information, please refer to the following Knowledge Base article.

Thanks for your detailed reply.
I am somewhat nervous about copying a.pst file and moving it.
New to me, but I am going to give it a try.

--I am able to copy the files back and forth from my desktop to my laptop.
However, I get duplcate files downloaded when I re-synchronise with the
service. do I need to delete all server files at the same time?

The information on which messages have been downloaded from the server and
which are considered new are kept in the registry so moving a PST between
two systems will not transfer that knowledge. Each PC keeps track of that
daya itself and cannot know whether or not a message has been downloaded
already on another PC.

So, how do I use my Laptop on the road and desktop at home? How can I move
the registry information from one to the otehr? Can they be synchronized?

Thanks

I'd allow each PC to download what it considers new messages and delete the
duplicates, if any.
How can I move the registry information from one to the otehr? Can they
be
synchronized?

As far as I can tell, the answer is "no" to both.

Please help a dummie. All I want to do is "save" (export?) my Outlook Tasks
lists (.pst folders?) from one computer (my desktop) to another (my laptop).
Have you actually done this? Do you have step-by-step instructions that
really work? Thank you for your help. (e-mail address removed)

Its one thing to copy data from 1 pc to another, when you use both, but
perhaps you might want to look at sync tools, in order that both are up to
date
