On any WIndows machine, about the the first thing I do is make file
explorer show file types. I can't find that in Vista. Where should I
look?

Is there a HOWTO website for common system tasks in Vista?

Thanks,.

Do you mean the file extensions? Or do you mean that you want a
column that deseribes the file type?

The former is the way it was in XP so I'll assume you want the latter.

At the top: View - Choose Details.

You probably should buy a book.
