the text box on my icons are now black. They were transparent but when I
changed my wallpaper it changed. I can change the colors but i want it to be
transparent. I went back to my old wallpaper but the boxes are still colored.
How do I make the settings transparent from colored. Thank you. Chris.

From a post by MVP Malke:

To have transparent icons:

1) Hold down the Windows key and press Pause/Break. On the "Advanced"
tab, under "Performance" click "Settings." On the "Visual Effects"
tab, make sure the box "Use drop shadows for icon labels" is checked.

2) Right-click on the Desktop, and make sure that "Arrange Icons by"
"Lock Web items" is not checked.

3) Right-click on the Desktop, and choose Properties. On the "Desktop"
tab, click "Customize Desktop," then on the "Web" tab, uncheck all
boxes.

4) Make sure any Wallpaper is an image file. Html will stop the
transparency.

I just hope that the OP isn't using a laptop as there isn't a
pause/break key on mine. There is a page up/pause and a page down/break
with the pause and break requiring the use of the FN key as well.

Anyway the shortcut on my laptop turns out to be Win - FN - pg up/pause.
Which is the same as right clicking My Computer (either on the desktop
or in Start menu)and selecting Properties.
