I just rebooted the pc and clicked on the icon that got
installed on the staus bar in the lower right corner
which started the setup routine.

this downloads with auto-updates, not the anti-spyware tool. as I understand
it.
That's a malicious software removal tool, not the beta antispyware tool.
Several people in these newsgroups now are confusing the two tools.
