How do I make an embedded sound fade out after a particular slide.

It seems it is a feature that many have asked for-
How about it Microsoft?!
 
As Michael says not in powerpoint however you can use "audacity" to add a
fade in / out before you embed the sound. Its free too!

If you are inclined ... Audacity is free music manipulation software and
with a couple of clicks, you can fade the music out then export again to the
format you want. It's what I use. Then I insert the sound file into
powerpoint.
