You can set a camera to save a photo at different quality.
The higher the quality selected, the larger the file size will be. Look in
your camera manual and you will find settings like High quality or Fine
quality or Standard quality or e-mail quality. Your camera is set for high
quality your sister's camera is set for the lowest quality. Lowest quality
is fine for e-mail, but not for printing. If she tries to print, the quality
will be very poor.
So what do you do?
1.Keep your camera on the highest quality setting so that if you want a
print it will be good.
2. When you want to e-mail, reduce the size of the file so you can e-mail
easily, but without reducing the size of your original file.
Several ways to do this as described below.
To decrease the size of the file for e-mail, web publishing, etc.
Go to this site and download the free Image Resizer. Exe file in one of your
folder.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Once in your folder, double click on it to install it.
Once installed, you right click on a photo file (or on a group of selected
photo files).
Click on Resize image on the opening menu.
A window will open, select the size you want.
New files will be added in your folder, same name as original file but with
the word (small) or (custom) added.
The first time you use it, you may not see Resize image on the opening menu
after you right click on a photo file or if you see it and click on it, it
may not work. If so, do the following:
Click on Run, click on Start and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI.
You should get a "success" message after pressing the Enter key.
Also, you can download a free photo editing software from here to resize
pictures and edit photos:
http://irfanview.com/
or another free software:
www.faststone.org
From this last one, you can directly e-mail a picture and it will
automatically resize it.
Another free one to do the same is:
www.picasa.com
Picasa has a nice feature to exchange pictures with friends under "Hello"
