how would i make / save a powerpoint show that i could then give to someone
else, and yet not allow that person to edit the powerpoint?

1. password protect (probably best option)
2. make slides into images
3. convert to Flash

Slight aside :

I sent someone a pps powerpoint show (passworded) embedded in another
passworded pps show. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems to me that you
cant modify it OR see how the animations work! (I know the password isnt
that secure but it seems a neat trick)

Hmm. If it's passworded against modification, it looks like you can rightclick
it and choose Open, Read Only. I don't have anything with animations handy,
but can you give that a shot and see if it cracks it open?

At least as of verison 2003, if a presentation is password protected, you can
still view the animation window and see how the animations were created.
