I can think of a half-dozen methods for getting at images and source code
which are not mentioned in any of these articles.
IMHO, the first article listed is not doing anyone any favors. As telling
ignorant people how to disable right-click is going to give them the
knowledge of how to perform this asinine task, it implies that there might
be some good reason for doing so. Can you imagine a doctor telling his
patient "Hoodia does nothing for you, but in case you want some, I'll give
you a bottle?" Talk about mixed signals!
In fact, all of the evidence is in favor of *not* doing so. Consider the
following:
1. Disabling right-click disables *all* of the context menu for the right
mouse button. This is irritating to most people. It drives traffic away from
a web site.
2. Disabling right-click announces to the world that the author knows almost
nothing about HTML, HTTTP, browsers, or the WWW. This drives traffic away
from a web site.
3. Irritating people and advertising one's ignorance are counter-productive
to the purpose of any web site.
