Hi,

Is there a way to lock in a text color or font when I type, regardless of
where in a document I'm typing? I'd like to type red text or in italics in a
document that has mostly black text, butI don't want to have keep resetting
the font when I move to other places in the document. This would be like a
CAPS LOCK for fonts, essentially.

Any suggestions most welcome!

Thanks!

Font color is always going to be the color at the insertion point, like any
other kind of font formatting (bold, italic, point size). You can define a
character style and apply it at the insertion point using a keyboard
shortcut, but that's the best you can do.

If your purpose is to have the editing 'stand out' from the previous content
you might want to investigate the Track Changes feature - just make sure you
understand it thoroughly *before* you start using it.

You can get more info in Word Help as well as"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305216/

But disregard the references to the Versions feature... It can be quite
problematic & cause corruption in your doc.
