how do i link a word document to my contacts

We have Office 2007 Pro and I need to know how to link a Word document to
both a Business Contact Manager contact and my regular contacts. In the
former program we would just add a journal entry but we can't find how to do
that either.

Aditionally we wnat to do a direct mail campaign and have the fact that a
letter was sent to each contacts history without doing it one my one. Is
that possible?

Regarding the Word doc, you can link any file to a BCM contact's
history, and add it as an attachment to an Outlook contact.
