Did you try the home network set up wizard? You can find that in My Network Places

I'm no genius with wireless, still on Cat5e cables here! Try it though, see what happens.

i'verun it that many times, still nothing. when i go into workgroups onboth pc's the only ones in there are theirs, neither are recognising eachother. have run the network diagnostics but don't know what to do with the findings of it

Can you attach the internet straight in to the router insted of going through a PC?

This will be a lot simpler, with most broadband you should be able to do this

can anyone see the reason i cannot get the two of these to communicate so i can share my internet, files etc

this is off the host pc with the internet access

To share an internet connection, you have to be in the same workgroup. go to

Controll pannel > System > PC name > workgroup, set it to something like "home workgroup" on both PC's, then try again,

what firewall do you use?

looking at that you have dhcp enabled this is where the router will assign ip address' to each pc on the network.

the desktop config looks fine but the laptop needs configuring, go into TCP/IP properties on the wireless NIC and set both settings to "obtain an ip address automatically" reboot the laptop and it should work fine.

assuming the internet is working on the desktop it will now work on the laptop.

anyway this is where i am now, eventually can see my other pc in workgroup but when i click on it i get \\family is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permission

the network path was not found.

this is now on both pc's, wasable to share files a bit ago butdidn't have any internet connection so had to get the ip automatically again to connect.
