I'm trying to put a home video on my PSP but it my MP4 converter says it
can't convert the video b/c it is a readonly. So i go to the folder and turn
it off but it won't stay off. i'm the admin. and everything and i still don't
know what's wrong.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

The read-only attribute for a folder is typically ignored by Windows. Every
single folder on my systems have the read-only attribute set.

It is normal that folders show up as read only. It is ignored by Windows.
You have to set the read only attribute on the file not the folder. If the
file is not set as read only and the roblem still exists then it is a NTFS
permission problem.

I went to the file and when i checked its properties, it has the read only
turned off. But the MP4 converter still won't convert it. I don't know what
else to do.

That should read: Check the permissions of the folder where the out file
will be.

Due to the way that Windows keeps track of the contents of a disk, every
folder on a windows XP based hard disk is read only, but the attribute is
house keeping only, and is ignored by Windows. If the file you are trying
to modify resides on or was copied from an optical disk, then the *FILE*
itself will have a read-only attribute, which can be changed once the file
is on the HDD. If the file is on an optical disk, it *cannot* be changed.
