How do I keep the computer unlocked permanently?

I am using Windows XP Pro and whenever I leave the computer for a while I
get the screen where I have to press CTRL-ALT-DEL and log in again. How do
I set up the system where I don't get this screen anymore. I only want it
when I shut the computer off at night and start it up in the morning but not
when I walk away from it for an hour or so.

I posted on the other windowsxp bulletin and did everything they said but it
still didn't help the problem.

Thanks.

Open Display in the Control Panel, then click on the screensaver tab, then uncheck the box "On resume, password protect", and should be OK.

Thanks, but I already did that and it didn't help

OK, also try going in Display, Screensaver tab, Power button, Advanced tab, and uncheck the box "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby"

Thanks but I already did that too and it still happens.

and uncheck the box "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby"

Start/run, then type (no quotes) "control userpasswords2", and in the applet, uncheck the box under the Advanced tab"Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+delete", and besure all is still undone in the Display properties.

Reboot, and try again. if it goes away, you should then be able to reverse the CP2 advice above (if you need it).

Thanks.....already did that too.

Nothing seems to work.

Try turning off everything. pertaining to this, e.g. the passowrd to logon, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Fast User switching, etc and try again. reverse one at a time.

Is this host in a domain? Could be your domain admin has set a policy
regarding idle which will lock your session as a security feature. The
company really doesn't want employees to wander off and leave their
hosts readily abuse-able by anyone walking by that can gain physical
access.

Maybe, but then he wouldn't be able to uncheck the boxes he has and change the logon screen too!

I think I got it to work.

Thanks.
