Microsoft Office 2003 just informed me, with no previous warning, that my
trial version that came with my computer expired today. I have Office XP here
that I bought for my previous computer, whose hard drive crashed, prompting
my purchase of this new computer. How can I save my Outlook mail when I
remove Office 2003 and install Office XP? Should I remove 2003 first, and
then install XP, or just install XP?

Don't remove Office 2003 until you have converted your personal folder set to
be compatible with older versions. If you coped the file from Outlook XP and
used it without any changes, you can go back. If it's in OL2003 format
though , you have to create an empty PST in the old format and copy or export
everything to that other PST.

after you have saved your PST file in the format compatible for Outlook 2002
as Athena has noted uninstall Office 2003 before reinstalling Office XP.
