How do I install Vista on my 2nd drive as dual boot?

I have just bought a 2nd disk for my Dell Dimention. My XP is old and need a
reinstallation. Was thinking about installing Vista on my new drive so that I
have a OS working while I re-build my C: drive from scratch. However it seems
that i do not get a "formatC:" option so that I can properly clean the C:
drive before re-installing XP.

1. How do I install Vista on the new Drive as a multiboot?
2. How can i get a clean "re-installation" of XP on my C: drive?

Firstly the clean install of XP:
When you start up your computer go into the bios and change the 1st boot
device as cd.
Save & Exit then restart with the xp cd in their
There should be an option on the cd to do a clean install, giving you the
option to format the C:\ drive.
